Animation MA
4 semesters
120 credits

Course director: József Fülöp

The aim of the Animation MA program is to educate individual animation artists and directors, as well as VFX experts and CGI artists, who make a significant contribution to various media projects and motion pictures.

Graduates of the training program are capable of developing animated contents, films, series, may act as creative producers of motion pictures, as well as communication and interactive applications using animation. Their skills, knowledge and experience obtained during the course make students competent in selecting and managing professionals (figure designers, animators, set designers, etc.) for diverse productions as well as in directing and managing creative pre-production and production-related processes.
During the four semesters of the MA program students develop animation projects through which they obtain indispensable filming and animating skills for designing and creating animated art objects.
MA students make a short film or any other animation project (transmedia project, games, interactive projects, etc.) as their diploma work: topic, content and form are all to be developed by the students on their own with the support of the teaching staff. The university manages the diploma films as its own productions, and takes over all tasks concerning the production and the nomination of diploma films for festivals, thus helping students in starting their career.

The work of MOME Anim reaches beyond the traditional frameworks of teaching. Talent management and content development set in an international network are of significant role, an important outcome is the creation and operation of incubator programs. The department has a strong network of active international relations, which gives students a wide range of opportunities to visit special training courses and international workshops in foreign partner institutions. Production activities are of key importance, in the framework of which animation project developments are commissioned by Hungarian and international partners, or realised in cooperation with them. The acquisition of research topics examining the contemporary issues related to animation film in regional, historical or other contexts is also part of the workshop’s life.
