Works by MOME students and faculty showcased at the grand Shine! exhibition

A new temporary exhibition opened at the Hungarian National Museum's Public Collection Centre on 18 October 2024 under the title Shine! – The Time of Jewellery. In addition to a selection spanning 40,000 years of human history and featuring treasures from the museum’s 222-year-old collection, works by MOME students and faculty are also on display. The exhibition will be expanded further in November, accompanied by a series of related events.

The exhibition includes works by MOME artists, such as Blues, Integration by Nóra Tengely, Fetish by Zoltán Tóth, Mirror Error by Antal Zilahi, and Landscape of Longing and Birds by Flóra Vági. Additional works will be showcased in November, as six new display cases dedicated to the latest generation of MOME jewellery designers and current faculty will be added. Contemporary jewellery pieces and artistic reflections from MOME will be exhibited in the Dome Hall of the museum. At the same time, a roundtable discussion will be held on 18 November in relation to this new section, with participants including art collector Katalin Spengler, National Museum curator Dr. Erika Kiss, and jewellery artist Flóra Vági, who leads the Designer-Maker MA programme at MOME.

MOME’s involvement in this exhibition marks the first visible outcome of the framework agreement between the university and the National Museum, recently signed by Director-General of the Hungarian National Museum's National Centre of Conservation Dr Gábor Zsigmond and MOME Rector Pál Koós. It includes plans to organise joint events and exhibitions, as well as launching a shared internship programme. The primary aim of this partnership is to broaden the professional horizons of both institutions, and share theoretical and practical knowledge as well as their professional networks.
