The concept of "biophilia" is used to describe how humans instinctively seek to connect with nature and other life forms. The disadvantages of modern lifestyle inspire a growing number of researchers and artists to explore biophilia, as it is said that human-nature interactions may reduce the level of stress, improve learning abilities and shorten recovery times after illnesses. To create the data visualisation publication, Maja Sárdi tracked the way she spent her time for a month: the number of hours spent in nature and in front of the screen. While the former is represented by organic shapes using manual techniques, the latter is designed digitally to illustrate screen time with stark geometricity. The abstract paintings and tint drawings created in nature show how liberating it is to spend time outdoors.
