Mother’s love

My concept was developed based on Bethany Webster’s book Mother Wound - A Guide to Healing the Mother Wound and Claiming Your Personal Power, as a reflection on my personal relationship with my mom. I wanted to create a book object that appears ideal, nearly perfect from a distance. An object that – being fragile and important for us – we would normally take great care of. As we move closer, we discover faults and defects in the tiny details, but we still see it as beautiful. The item is a symbol of a relationship in its final stages, where I performed a symbolic act of closure. It signifies a sort of letting go, and taking control.
