The aim of the Product Design BA programme is to help students master design thinking and the steps of the design process from the exploration of user requirements and brainstorming to model building and preparations for execution – both in product and service design.
A wide range of projects (product design, system design, experimental assignments, etc.) enable everyone to find their area of interest and hone the required skills. Students will learn to present their ideas using drawings, 3D models and prototypes created in the workshops.
We are involved in collaborations with a number of governmental and non-governmental organisations in addition to our business partners, helping students broaden their horizons and enhance their social and societal sensitivity. Our graduates can hold their own in international competition, find jobs with design studios and companies, start their own business or move on to MA programmes.

How can ways of thinking, sensitivity, and attitudes to work be passed down from one generation to the next? What role do time spent together, working side by side, attentiveness, acceptance, and even conflict play in relationships between masters and students?
Offering a fascinating cross-section of Hungarian craft and design, Patterns That Live On, a new temporary exhibition organised in collaboration with the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), explores the continuity of the institution across generations, the personal relationships between practitioners and the passing on of knowledge, perspectives, and experience. The exhibition opens on 18 October at the Ráth György Villa.
The recipients of the Stefan Lengyel Scholarship of Excellence for the spring semester of 2026 have been announced. The sixteen winning projects include an animated series exploring children’s rights, a contemporary cemetery and memorial site, an inclusive tableware set for children, a documentary on collective trauma, and a project exploring the legacy of Tungsram.
A fresh take on a forgotten lamp, a sauna on the banks of the Danube, and sustainable fashion collections – five creative practitioners affiliated with MOME, including last year’s graduates, have been selected for the 2026 BIG SEE Perspectives Award. Dorottya Bató, Valentin Szarvas and Nóra Szilágyi were nominated in the product design category, and Julianna Skrabák and the girls can scan collective in architecture. Their work forges links between current challenges in industrial design, the social issues explored through fashion, urban communities, and architectural heritage. On 21 May, the participants of the Perspectives 2026 introduced their projects to an international professional audience at the BIG SEE Festival in Portorož.
Events
On 21 October, the *The Next Station is...* exhibition of the Stefan Lengyel Scholarship of Excellence will open at Merlin. Celebrating the fifth anniversary of the exhibition, this year’s show presents the work of all 32 scholarship recipients from the 2025/26 academic year, this time outside the MOME Campus, in the iconic Merlin exhibition space in the city centre.
MOME is hosting its own exhibition at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, as part of the Class of 2026 section!
The works on display grew out of material research, designer maker, graphic design, and textile design processes developed through MOME’s thematic courses, and its MA diploma preparation, research, and incubation mentoring programmes.
From 8–12 December, MOME KIPAK returns once again! Every corner of the campus will be filled with the works, exhibitions, installations, and presentations of MOME students.
Facilities
The Modelling Workshops are the venue for the modelling skills subject, where working and structural models, mock-ups and prototypes are made. Material knowledge and material shaping exercises, transfer of technical skills using metal, wood, plastics, and handheld/mechanical
