Our MA programme enables students to become open-minded professionals who are receptive to global trends and local challenges, and can provide sustainable responses through material-oriented solutions. 
MOME’s Master’s programmes also provide those with outstanding artistic skills but no prior specialised art or similar education with the opportunity to study. MOME offers 6 English-language MA programmes, the rest are available in Hungarian language only.

Application procedure

Applicants are evaluated based on their portfolio presenting their professional journey, and also on their personal introduction (practical exam). This way, prospective students can be selected on the basis of their talent, abilities and accomplishments to date.

Please note that both the timeline and the application platform of the below steps will vary depending on the form of financing you chose for your master’s studies.

Portfolio upload

Upload your portfolio, pay the admission fee (online), and upload the application file (online) and pay the admission fee. These are prerequisites for the practical test.

Funding and scholarships

Our English MA programmes are available in state-funded form of financing for all Hungarian citizens (as a part of the 12 state-subsidized semesters), for our international applicants there are various funding options. 

Tuition fees:

  • Hungarian self-financing students: 2.000.000 HUF/semester

International students:

  • EU/EEA citizens: 5.000 Euro / semester
  • Non-EU/EEA citizens: 12.000 Euro / semester

Portfolio

Task description

The portfolio is a professional self-introductory application material compiled by you and it includes your works created in recent years.  

The purpose of a portfolio is to present your professional journey and relevant previous works. As such, it may contain works or projects closely or loosely related to your selected programme.  

To be submitted along with the portfolio:  

Brief description of the master project (roughly 2,000-3,000 characters, in A4 format)  

Identify the issue or area of interest that you would like to explore. Do you have relevant previous experience in a similar field? Describe one or more Hungarian or international examples in a similar field that you find motivating. How do you picture the related research, assessment, and analysis you are expected to do during your Master’s programme?   

The submission is only used to gauge your knowledge, and you are free to choose a different area when completing your Master’s.

The interview starts with a review of your portfolio, and the discussion that follows assesses the level of your cultural and technical knowledge and your professional interests.  

The printed version of the portfolio does not need to be presented at the interview.

Application prerequisites and scores

General prerequisites

  • university degree

A university degree (bachelor's degree/college degree or master's degree) is a precondition for applying to our masters’ programmes. Please note that foreign degrees must be accredited and equivalent to a Hungarian bachelor’s degree. Those graduating in the current academic year must provide an official letter by their university to confirm their graduation. 

Language requirements

  • minimum B2, but preferably higher English knowledge

Applicants are not required to present an English language certificate, however a minimum B2, preferably higher-level knowledge of English is necessary. Applicants’ language proficiency will be evaluated and assessed during the admission process and at the entry examination interview.

Admission points

  • total score: 100 points
  • maximum 99 points for admission exam
  • 1 additional points

The university reserves the right to pre-select applicants based on their submitted professional porfolio for the admission interview.
Applicants can score a maximum of 99 points for the practical exam, and may receive an additional 1 point as required by law, based on social disadvantage, disabilities, maternity leave, etc., adding up to a total score of 100.

Cost of application

For self-financing applicants

€50 per application

A registration fee will be charged to cover the costs of organising and conducting the practical exam for all MAs. The registration fee must be completed upon submitting an application. The basic condition for accessing the portfolio upload is the payment of the registration fee.

Those applying via apply.mome.hu (DreamApply platform) the payment of the application fee is administered there.

For Hungarian nationals

HUF 5,000 per application

Those applying via felvi.hu (central Hungarian application system) you must pay the special procedural fee via the portfolio upload platform at the time of your registration.
The fee can be paid by bank card via the upload interface, in accordance with the procedure found there.
