MOME’s manager training programme marks a double anniversary in 2026

The art manager training was launched in February 1986 at the university’s predecessor, the Hungarian College of Applied Arts, and has maintained a consistent presence within Hungary’s cultural and creative sectors for over four decades. From early on in the programme, students are involved in organising, including the Intermezzo Festival at the House of Music Hungary and the MOME Fair, which presents students’ work in a public setting. The 2026 event series reflects on the professional trajectories of former students.
Throughout the year, lecturers and programme coordinators will publish alumni interviews and career reflections on the programme’s social media platforms, with former students discussing their professional experience, key projects, and the foundations established during their studies at MOME.
The first event in the anniversary series is the finissage of MOME KIKI. Organised annually by current manager training students, KIKI presents semester projects by students enrolled in MOME’s five English-language design MA programmes: Animation, Designer-Maker, Design, Interaction Design and Photography, in a multi-disciplinary arts event. Its purpose is to create a platform that supports design students’ professional integration by moving their work from the university environment into a city venue. This year’s exhibition is hosted by editory in Budapest’s 8th district, a venue run by four MOME alumni.
The finissage day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a public professional event, welcoming current and former students of the university as well as all interested visitors. Six graduates of the manager training programme will present their career paths and selected projects: leather and textile designer and design manager Dóra Juhász, creative director and cultural strategist Mátyás Misetics, MOME lecturer and doctoral candidate Máté Gorka-Focht, visual professional, curator and artistic director of Kastner Kommunity Korinna Tánczos, professional lead of the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection and Ráday Mihály Prize-winning museologist and museum manager Dóra Kolocz, and freelance graphic designer, musician and art teacher Veronika Veni Szász. Ten-minute presentations will be followed by a roundtable discussion, where participants will reflect on how they apply the knowledge gained at MOME across different areas of the cultural sector. The celebratory evening concludes with the KIKI finissage, cake-cutting, and a toast.

About the programme
MOME’s manager training programme operates in two parallel formats: as a full-time university degree course and as a one-day-per-week continuing professional course. Both have been continuously updated over the years. The full-time route was originally established as a five-year, undivided Design Management programme, offering designers formal training in management as a second field of study. Following the introduction of the Bologna system, it was restructured as the Art and Design Management MA. The master’s programme is open to graduates in economics, the humanities, the arts, and the social sciences. To date, 200 students have completed the programme, and the 15th year group graduates this year. For the past two years, the MA has been delivered in English under the name Art and Design Management MA (ADM), alongside MOME’s other English-language master’s programmes. Alongside the full-time format, the postgraduate manager training course remains available as an accredited specialised continuing education programme. The former course is accredited as specialised training and is offered with two specialisations as Museum and Cultural Management (MUKUME).
Further information is available on the website and on the programme’s social media platforms.
