Public Lecture by Ewa Klekot

Art anthropologist Ewa Klekot from SWPS University will be coming to MOME to hold a lecture, open to the university community.
Her internationally acclaimed research explores the epistemological, aesthetic, and philosophical dimensions of craft from an anthropological perspective.
In her lecture, Mētis: A Knowledge that Refuses to Be Abstracted from the Body, she will discuss the ancient Greek concept of mētis – embodied wisdom essential in moments of transformation and change.
The lecture on 8 October will be followed by a discussion moderated by head of the MOME Doctoral School’s DLA programme Bálint Veres.
The event is supported by the Waclaw Felczak Foundation.

„Global society has not yet understood the distinction between physical expansion and qualitative development. It has passed the stage where more physical expansion is desirable. No widely-shared global goal is now served by having more people or material goods. Now it is important to learn how to advance the development of our species - achieving equity, peace, psychological balance, physical health, environmental quality.” (Dennis Meadows, co-author of Limits to Growth)
