Jump into the Future!
The Jump into the Future! competition is designed to give students in forms 7 through 10 the opportunity to engage with global challenges in a constructive and forward-looking way. At its core, it helps students strengthen their sense of agency, develop problem-solving skills, and broaden their horizons, while prompting them to think and act together in response to pressing global issues such as climate change, poverty and other challenges affecting communities around the world. This is achieved through an educational process that introduces students to the basics of design thinking. Exploring possible futures raises students’ awareness of the issues ahead and the responsibility we share for the planet. The programme encourages students to take action and supports them in developing creative responses to the complex challenges that lie ahead.
MOME’s creative competition for students in forms 7–10 is back.
Picture the future. What will our forests look like twenty years from now? And what place will people have in them? How can we protect them while helping them thrive?
Forests are often described as the lungs of the Earth. They produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, provide habitats for countless species, and help regulate the climate. Yet in the midst of the climate crisis, these ecosystems are disappearing. Forests are exploited for raw materials, their land is built on, and they are often destroyed in the pursuit of short-term gains. This is a course we must change together. What can we do to make that happen? How can people and forests coexist in ways that are truly sustainable?
This year, Jump into the Future! focuses on the relationship between forests and people. Develop a vision of a future casting forests not just as resources, but as partners – shared spaces and living systems we are responsible for and a part of.
We are looking for creative concepts that explore questions such as:
- How might the role and value of forests change in everyday life?
- Could forests become part of the cities of the future?
- How might we use timber and other forest resources responsibly?
- What new forms of community activities could forests support?
- How can design, art or technology help protect and restore forests?
You can come up with ideas that are realistic or inspired by science fiction. What matters most is that it sparks new ways of thinking and points to new possibilities for the future.
You can submit your idea in many forms, including drawings, graphic works, photographs, videos, animations, models, installation designs, campaign concepts or digital projects, using analogue, digital or mixed formats.
- The competition is open to students in forms 7–10 working in teams of two to five, from schools in Hungary as well as Hungarian-language schools across the border.
- Teachers are welcome to support their teams as mentors and can also take part in the online information sessions and professional events.
- Because climate change and the future of forests are already defining questions for your generation.
- Because the selected teams are mentored by MOME teachers and students.
- Because you can continue developing your ideas in workshops.
- Because you can gain insight into how a creative university works.
- Because the best projects will also make their debut in an exhibition.
- Because the competition offers valuable professional opportunities and prizes.
