Craftsmanship

This is a practical craft module for the design courses of the Designer Maker programme. Working creatively with materials is just as important a part of designer maker training as developing design concepts related to social issues. The purpose of craftsmanship assignments is to enable students to develop design thinking in addition to obtaining craftsmanship practice, and to improve their professional skills by learning traditional and modern technologies. Students will learn the professional basic skills and knowledge, and develop their technological toolkit. The final exam for the last year of the BA programme is a design assignment requiring students to demonstrate the complex technological skills acquired. This includes designing their own maker’s mark, which is the first step towards building their own brand and establishing their own manufacturing line.
