MOME Statement – October 2025

Date: 2025.10.15
The ethical principles set out by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) affirm the university’s strong commitment to safeguarding the human dignity, physical and emotional wellbeing, and integrity of all university citizens and upholding their fundamental personal rights.

We unequivocally condemn any act that violates or could violate the dignity, safety, or integrity of university citizens.

As part of its mission to foster a creative, inclusive, and supportive environment, MOME is dedicated to ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff can live, work, and study in a safe and inspiring setting. The university therefore maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of harassment, abuse, and violence. Every report of such conduct is taken extremely seriously, investigated in line with established procedures, and followed by the appropriate measures.

The university’s leadership and community have a strong and deeply held belief in the principles and values MOME represents, which are also reflected in its ethical and organisational frameworks. In May 2023, the university adopted an updated Code of Ethics, and in March 2025 introduced a whistleblowing system designed to ensure the effective and safe reporting and handling of misconduct.

The Ethics Committee and the internal reporting procedures, developed in line with international best practice, allow any member of the MOME community to share information about actual or suspected unlawful acts or other forms of misconduct under a regulated framework, anonymously if they wish. This way, each case can be reviewed thoroughly and, where needed, appropriate action can be taken.

The current leadership and community of MOME express their sympathy and solidarity with all those whose sense of dignity or safety was harmed years or even decades ago, and with anyone who has experienced injustice, mistreatment, or abuse. Within its legal and institutional remit, the university is committed to offering every possible form of moral, legal, and human support to those affected.

With profound sorrow, we say goodbye to Chief of Cabinet to the Rector Nikoletta Lakatos, who passed away at the age of barely 40 after a sudden and aggressive illness. Her career was cut tragically short, yet its impact far exceeded the time she had, and it is hard to accept that someone who brought such warmth and vitality is no longer here with us.
Mihez kezdhetünk a feleslegessé vált, de még használható bútorokkal? Lehet-e közösségi élmény a főzés szakácskönyv nélkül? Miként válhat láthatóvá és értékessé a pályakezdő divattervezők munkája? Többek között ezekre a kérdésekre keresnek gyakorlati válaszokat a MOME Inkubáció mentoráltjai, akik április 2-án a LEVEL UP! eseményen a projektjeik mellett azt is bemutatják, hogy miként jutottak el az ötlettől a megvalósításig, a szikrától a következő mérföldkőig. A Dugattyúsban megrendezett Demo Dayen a tizenöt fiatal tervező, alkotó és elméleti szakember előadását beszélgetések, közönségszavazás, majd közös ünneplés kíséri.
