MOME Statement – October 2025

Date: 2025.10.15
The ethical principles set out by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) affirm the university’s strong commitment to safeguarding the human dignity, physical and emotional wellbeing, and integrity of all university citizens and upholding their fundamental personal rights.

We unequivocally condemn any act that violates or could violate the dignity, safety, or integrity of university citizens.

As part of its mission to foster a creative, inclusive, and supportive environment, MOME is dedicated to ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff can live, work, and study in a safe and inspiring setting. The university therefore maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of harassment, abuse, and violence. Every report of such conduct is taken extremely seriously, investigated in line with established procedures, and followed by the appropriate measures.

The university’s leadership and community have a strong and deeply held belief in the principles and values MOME represents, which are also reflected in its ethical and organisational frameworks. In May 2023, the university adopted an updated Code of Ethics, and in March 2025 introduced a whistleblowing system designed to ensure the effective and safe reporting and handling of misconduct.

The Ethics Committee and the internal reporting procedures, developed in line with international best practice, allow any member of the MOME community to share information about actual or suspected unlawful acts or other forms of misconduct under a regulated framework, anonymously if they wish. This way, each case can be reviewed thoroughly and, where needed, appropriate action can be taken.

The current leadership and community of MOME express their sympathy and solidarity with all those whose sense of dignity or safety was harmed years or even decades ago, and with anyone who has experienced injustice, mistreatment, or abuse. Within its legal and institutional remit, the university is committed to offering every possible form of moral, legal, and human support to those affected.

A harmadik éve futó esemény többnapos fesztivál formájában tért vissza, melyet az Irregulari alkotói kollektíva több egyetem – köztük a MOME – szakmai közreműködésével szervezett. A szervezők mellett a kiállításon is számos mostani és egykori MOME-hallgató működött közre, erről szól összefoglalónk.
