Designing Everyday Experience – Objects, Space, Habits anthology published

Date: 2026.06.03
The volume Designing Everyday Experience. Objects, Space, Habits has been published by Springer, co-edited by DLA programme lead at the MOME Doctoral School Bálint Veres. Bringing together perspectives from everyday aesthetics and design culture studies, it features contributions from leading scholars including Yuriko Saito (Rhode Island School of Design), Michalle Gal (Shenkar College), Barbara Formis (Sorbonne), and Mads Nygaard Folkmann (University of Southern Denmark).

Also available at the MOME Library, the book offers insights into the sensory, symbolic, and ethical dimensions of the designed environments, objects, and habits that shape our everyday lives. It includes two studies by MOME scholars: an analysis of IKEA by Bálint Veres and an exploration of slow fashion by Eszter Babarczy.

The book's other co-editors are Elisabetta Di Stefano (University of Palermo) and Lisa Giombini (Roma Tre University). Together with Adrián Kvokačka, they joined Bálint Veres, Anna Keszeg, and the MOME Doctoral School in organising and leading the 2023 conference of the same name (dee.mome.hu), held to mark the School's 25th anniversary. A small selection of papers from the conference was previously published in a special issue of Disegno in 2024 (https://disegno.mome.hu/lapszamok/disegno-2024-1). The new volume, however, offers the most comprehensive account of the conference’s insights to date, rounding off the celebrations of the MOME Doctoral School’s 25th anniversary, following the Varietas exhibition and accompanying book, the conference, and the special issue of Disegno.
