Water Residency Programme in Esztergom – Open call for MOME artists

Date: 2026.02.17
A new residency is launching in partnership between the Circle and Point Foundation and the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. The Water Residency Programme will begin in summer 2026, offering a four-month period of residence and creative work in Esztergom for recent MOME graduates and selected alumni artists.

The open call aims to bring art and cultural dialogue into everyday life while exploring the relationship between water and the city through contemporary artistic approaches.

Drawing on Esztergom’s distinctive waterscape – the branches of the Danube and its thermal springs – the programme focuses on the dynamic interplay between water and people, urban space and community. The selected resident will work in Esztergom from July to October 2026, based in a centrally located studio apartment and supported within a mentored professional environment and a monthly scholarship of HUF 100,000.

The residency involves community events, open studio sessions and workshops, and, depending on the nature of the work, the option to create a public pop-up project. The programme will conclude with a group exhibition in Esztergom, presenting the completed works in collaboration with artists of the Esztergom Art Guild.

The residency is intended for those who wish not only to produce new work, but also to engage actively in a water-centred urban cultural and community ecosystem.

Applications may be submitted online until 20 April 2026.

A harmadik éve futó esemény többnapos fesztivál formájában tért vissza, melyet az Irregulari alkotói kollektíva több egyetem – köztük a MOME – szakmai közreműködésével szervezett. A szervezők mellett a kiállításon is számos mostani és egykori MOME-hallgató működött közre, erről szól összefoglalónk.
