
Biography
After obtaining her diploma from the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University, she received her Candidate of the Arts degree in 1984. In 2004 she became a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Together with Gábor Kapitány, she is the author of over thirty books and more than 300 articles and studies published in English, German, and French, in addition to Hungarian. She has been active in higher education for over 40 years. She is a founding and management member of several academic societies (Hungarian Cultural Anthropological Association, Hungarian Association for Semiotic Studies). She is a member of the Committee on Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Awards and accolades
In 2016, she received the Széchenyi Prize for her academic lifetime achievements, and in 2022, she was given the Kopp-Skrabski Award.
