Balázs is a teacher at the University since 2008, currently an associate professor and Head of MA at the Architecture Institute, as well as an alumnus and supervisor of the MOME Doctoral School. In addition to his academic activities, he has also been a practicing architect, co-founder and senior designer of the Gereben Marán Építészek architect studio since 1997.
Biography
An Ybl, Pro Architectura, Péter Molnár, Media Architecture, Big See, and Piranesi Award winning architect, Balázs graduated as an architect from the Department of Public Building Design of the Budapest University of Technology’s Faculty of Architecture in 1997, and earned his DLA at the MOME Doctoral School in 2015. During his graduate training, he studied at the KTH University in Stockholm, followed by periods at the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, the Master School of the Hungarian Chamber of Architects, the Westminster University in London and the New York University. Since 2000, he has been a member with designer status of the Chamber of Budapest Architects. Since graduation, he has been a partner at various design studies, and since 2010, a co-founder and senior designer of the Gereben Marán Építészek architect studio. He was teaching graduate courses between 1997 and 2010 at the Budapest University of Technology, and since 2008 at the MOME Architecture Institute. Currently, he is an associate professor, Head of MA programme, and MA programme lead at the MOME Architecture Institute, a supervisor at the Doctoral School, and a designer of several award-winning buildings.
