Biography

Bálint Szabó is a composer, musician, curator and interdisciplinary researcher. He studies at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design doctoral school. His practice-based artistic research is entitled Speculative Music Design in the Making of Fictional Worlds. 
He is the co-curator of the Down To Earth lecture performance series held at the French Institute of Budapest and a former music curator of the prestigious contemporary art venue Trafó House of Contemporary Arts. 
His main artistic focus is non-standard musical tuning systems, non-standard musical instrument design, speculative music design, ethnomusicology, decolonisation of hearing, and ritual design. 
His artistic work is manifested in his solo project Gosheven, and in his band Decolonize Your Mind Society. 
Gosheven’s debut record was selected as “Best album of the year” by the prestigious The Wire magazine, while his former band 12z released records on the legendary US producer Nicolas Jaar’s label. Decolonize Your Mind Society have played at well-known international music festivals like Donaufestival (Austria), Kyiv Biennal (Ukraine) and Fusion Festival (Germany).
