Biography

He completed his university studies as a landscape architect and obtained his doctoral degree in architecture at MOME. He has led the MOME Design Institute since 2010. From 2014, as the Vice Rector of Strategy at MOME, he has been responsible for numerous university-wide developments, including the renewal of the MOME campus, and the establishment of the Innovation Centre. Currently, as the leader of the University of the Future project, he is working on a comprehensive reform of MOME's programmes for a new generation of designers and creators.
As a landscape architect and sustainability consultant, he has been involved in ecological design, urban climate adaptation, and green infrastructure planning in both Hungary and the UK. He has designed sustainable urban neighbourhoods, climate-friendly public parks, and campuses in various parts of the world.
As a university lecturer, he founded the first sustainability research group at MOME, called MOME EcoLab, which combines experimental methods with education and design research. His courses are also characterised by an unconventional approach. He expects students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills pragmatically, often in surprising situations. In recent years, he has been researching and teaching about how climate change will reshape our lives in the future, and what tools designers and creators have to respond to changing conditions.
Fun fact: Dániel is a passionate rock climber, hiker, and long-distance runner who spends all his free time in the outwards. He doesn't get flustered if he has to spend the night in a snow cave or find his way in the vast forests of Scandinavia.
