Edit Balumann is a PhD candidate at the Doctoral School. She is also a researcher at the Innovation Centre and a lecturer at MOME. Her research spans BioDesign, BioArt and Speculative Design, all of which are areas in which she has published papers. Her concept art projects such as BioPunk Budapest and Rabarba Branching Realities, explore the boundaries of the bio- and technosphere. She recently exhibited at ABRA's (Artifical Biology, Robotics and Art) international, transdisciplinary event organised by Aalto, Alborg and Trento Universities. She is actively involved in the Engage4Bio Horizon Europe project. She curates the food and the health topics of the Future Materials Conference. As an educator, she delivers diverse courses on BioDesign and BioArt. She also conducts participatory speculative design workshops encompassing a variety of future themes. Her academic journey began with a degree in Art History from Eötvös Lóránd University (MA, 2002), and continued with a degree in Cinematography at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (MA, 2011). In the professional realm, she has amassed extensive experience in roles such as a director of photography, camera operator, drone camera operator and still photographer. Her portfolio encompasses international and Hungarian feature films, television series, documentaries and advertising productions. Her talent has been recognised with the International Kodak Prize and a nomination for the Hungarian DoP Award. She has been a Nipkow Foundation fellow and was privileged to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus.
