Portfolio

A portfolio is the professional introductory material compiled by you, which gives an overview of your photographic, video, or other creative work to date. Please compile the artworks you want to present in a well-structured manner, including the titles of the works and the date of their creation. Attach project statements to the series and, in the case of exhibition documentation, its venue and date. The online portfolio may also include external links related to submitted entries to assist the evaluation panel in their preparation.  

Elements of the online portfolio and their order: 

• Cover, with the applicant's name and portrait 
• Detailed professional CV 
• Project proposal, in which you summarise (in not more than one page) the kind of photographic project you would develop during your studies 
• Visuals: photographic work (ideally a selection of not more than 3-4 projects, or 20-30 photographs), photo book designs, installation documentation or other works that can be interpreted within the genre of photography. Please include a short description of each series or other works presented in your portfolio! 
• Annexes (links to a website or other content: videos, reviews, studies, interviews, publications, etc.)  

Please submit the portfolio in digital form in parallel with the institutional registration with the following parameters: a landscape-format A/4 PDF file, any number of pages, with a maximum size of 25 megabytes (25Mb). Naming convention: applicant_name.pdf. 

When reviewing your portfolio, we pay special attention to the following:  

• the individuality that appears in the submitted works  
• professional and technical quality of the portfolio  
• the relevance of the themes displayed in the works  
• content and wording of the project descriptions  
• feasibility, relevance and expected outcomes of the idea outlined in the project plan  

Self-portrait video 

The aim of the task is to give you the opportunity to summarise what you consider important about yourself, to express your style and personality. It is recommended that you focus on one or two important elements from your biography and present them with your own audio-visual tools.  

The self-portrait video can be a selfie video, a ‘talking head’, a slideshow, a showreel, a ‘behind the scenes’ film, etc., the content, dramaturgy and visual elements of which can be shaped freely but cannot be longer than 60 seconds. 

The file must be in mp4 file format, maximum 60MB.

Personal data

File with your personal details including: 

• Your name  
• Your name at birth  
• Mother’s maiden name  
• Photo of yourself (6 x 5cm)  
• Motivation letter (optional)  
• Reference letter from previous university or workplace, if applicable (optional)

The file must be a PDF file of A/4 pages stapled together in a single document, up to a maximum size of 50 MB, scanned at 300 dpi.

Previous studies 

File with details of your previous studies including: 

• Certified copy of the transcript of records 
• A scanned copy of your diploma (if already obtained)  

This file must be in PDF format and consist of scanned A4 pages with a resolution of 300 dpi. 

Maximum file size: 25 MB 

Interview (max. 15 min., online/offline) 

During the admission interview, you will have the opportunity to present your portfolio and the project plan submitted. The purpose of the interview is to get to know your creative ideas and to assess your professional preparedness, but the discussion may also include an examination of your vision, general education, knowledge and language skills.  

A physical version of the portfolio needs to be presented at the admission interview. An extended portfolio in a different format, scope and content than the one submitted online is also accepted at the interview. Works, prints, booklets and photo books not previously submitted may also be presented during the personal interview. There is no format or volume limit to the portfolio that can be presented at the interview, but please note that you only have 15 minutes in the interview. You must submit a hard copy of your photo CV to the panel at the interview, but your portfolio does not have to be left behind.
