The MOME community mourns the passing of Dóra Maurer, who began her teaching career at the Hungarian College of Applied Arts – MOME’s predecessor. Between 1987 and 1991, she taught as a visiting lecturer on the Photography programme, leading courses in visual experimentation and photogrammatics, and later audiovisual practice. Through her teaching, she broadened the school’s outlook and reshaped the way students approached image-making.

Hazai és külföldi designmárkák stratégái, kortárs művészeti galériák munkatársai, a társadalmi integrációt elősegítő nonprofit projektek vezetői vagy éppen doktorált kutatók és egyetemi oktatók – ők mind a MOME menedzserképzésének az egykori hallgatói. A szakmai teljesítmények között szerepel a Velencei Biennálé Magyar Pavilonjának a kurátori munkája, Beton.Hofi új klipjének a produceri feladatköre vagy éppen OIEE (Kocsis Bence) multimédia-sikertörténete. A Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem (MOME) átfogó menedzserképzése, amelyben egyesül a gazdasági és a művészeti tudás, a kreatív és az üzleti szemlélet, idén negyven-, a két évvel ezelőtt angol nyelvű képzéssé vált Design- és művészetmenedzsment MA program pedig tizenöt éves évfordulóját ünnepli. A jubileumi évet számos programspecifikus rendezvénnyel, köztük a március 4-i MOME KIKI finisszázzsal teszi emlékezetessé a szak.

Framed around water as a shared resource and collective housing as a common response, MOME hosted the international design sprint and symposium Co-operatives: Living with Water Collectively. During the week-long intensive course, Hungarian and international students worked in interdisciplinary teams to develop viable concepts addressing the housing and ecological challenges of the 21st century, placing the cultural, social and infrastructural role of water at the centre of their proposals. The top prize went to a multinational team for their project Spring Home.

Applications are once again open for the joint student residency programme run by MOME and the Collegium Hungaricum Rome. Established in 2024, the initiative is designed to support the launch of MOME students’ professional careers and international success, each year offering six talented students the opportunity to spend four weeks in July at the Hungarian Academy in Rome. The programme includes a preparatory course and fieldwork, followed by a group exhibition in the spring at the Falconieri Palace Gallery. Both graduating BA and MA students are eligible to apply, including those enrolled in English-language programmes, who may submit their applications in English.

In 2025, the Hegyvidék Local Council launched a student ideas competition for students of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, inviting proposals for the revitalisation of the disused urban block bordered by Szoboszlai Street – Böszörményi Road – Beethoven Street and its surrounding area. The brief called for a renewed urban vision, and first year MA students from the MOME Architecture Institute spent the semester developing complex design responses for the site. The Árkay Prize was awarded to the most compelling designs, with first prize going to Eszter Hegedűs and Boglárka Számuel, and the shared second prize to duos Bence Huszár and Renáta Tribel as well as to Hanga Izabella Reppert and Emese Szakál; the proposal by László Juhász and Áron Náray received a commendation. An exhibition of the competition entries is on view at Barabás Villa until 25 February 2026.

Another Hungarian animation is heading to Berlin: Janka Feiner’s diploma film, Fire in My Pocket, has been selected for the Generation Kplus competition programme at the Berlin International Film Festival. The nearly 10-minute film was created on the Animation MA programme of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, with the support of the National Film Institute Hungary. Set in a magical mushroom realm it opens a window onto children’s inner emotional lives, impressing the Berlinale selection committee with its blend of stop-motion with digital drawing animation.

Dupla évfordulót ünnepel a MOME menedzserképzése! 2026-ban kettős jubileumot ünnepel a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem (MOME) menedzserképzése. Az intézmény jogelődjében, az Iparművészeti Főiskolán 1986 februárjában indult a művészeti menedzserek képzése. A képzés máig két sávon fut: egyetemi diplomát nyújtó nappali formában, illetve heti egynapos továbbképzésként. Az évtizedek során mindkét forma megújult. A nappali képzés eleinte ötéves, osztatlan Designmenedzsment (DM) verzióban designereknek adott a másodszakjukon menedzsment ismereteket. A bolognai átállás során ebből született meg a Design- és művészetmenedzsment MA szak (DMM). Ez a mesterképzés minden – gazdasági, bölcsész, művészeti vagy társadalomtudományi – alapszakos diplomázó előtt nyitott, eddig kétszáz hallgató végezte el, és idén diplomázik a 15. évfolyam. A képzés két éve angol nyelven zajlik Art and Design Management MA (ADM) néven, a MOME további öt angol nyelvű mesterszakjával karöltve. A nappali formával párhuzamosan, máig népszerű a posztgraduális menedzserképzés. Az egykori tanfolyam szakirányú továbbképzésként van akkreditálva, kétféle specializációval választható, Múzeumi és Kultúramenedzsment (MUKUME) néven.
