Celebrated graphic artist and designer of the iconic Zoom, István Bányai was a defining figure in the history of press and magazines. Known for his work with The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, New York, and Playboy, he would have turned 75 this year. To honour his legacy, his alma mater, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), will present a selection of his work in an exhibition this November, offering a contemporary perspective on his oeuvre for the first time in Hungary.

Micro-mobility solutions, clever storage innovations for homes and offices, a nuclear contamination detector, and playful pencil sharpeners galore – this year’s Best of Forma exhibition featuring works by MOME’s Product Design BA and Design MA students at the Budapest Design Week 2024 offered an exciting vision of creativity. This year, the young students stepped away from conventional exhibition spaces, presenting their works in the vibrant Kollab co-working environment, where visitors could enjoy a cup of coffee while viewing the showcase. The displayed projects reflected a wide array of unique perspectives, with designs responding to everyday challenges while keeping sustainability at the forefront. From food waste and mobility to storage and upcycling materials, the projects presented remarkable and intriguing solutions to contemporary issues.
