General Theoretical Studies (BA studies)

General Theoretical Studies offer subjects covering theoretical studies to all design BA students of the university. After completing the mandatory foundation subjects, students can put together their individual schedule each semester from the offerings of the following study fields: Social and Psychological Studies, Contemporary Cultural and Philosophical Studies, Historical Studies, and subjects related to professional autonomy development and special theoretical studies. The fundamental purpose of the theoretical training, beyond providing factual knowledge, is to improve students’ critical thinking, analytical and interpretation skills, and to help them formulate their thoughts verbally and in writing. Social science, philosophical and historical subjects also take their cue from art and design phenomena, and use small group sessions to tie in the creative work of the programmes.
