The impact of AI on Low-resource (limited digital resources) languages and their visual cultures
About the project in general
The impact of AI on Low-resource (limited digital resources) languages and their visual cultures” project supported by the Visegrad Fund and led by Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design aims to address the underrepresentation of low-resource languages, such as Slovak, Hungarian, Czech, Polish and their associated visual cultures in artificial intelligence systems. The project will define the status quo of the problematic AI systems and develop AI tools tailored to these cultures, enhancing the culture-aware visibility of the V4 visual heritage in AI systems.
As a result of the project led by the Heritage in Motion Lab at MOME, a symposium and workshops on AI and Cultural Preservation will be organized, an online publication will be published showcasing cutting-edge innovation by illustrating the project's development of AI tools and technologies aimed at low-resource languages, a physical exhibition showcasing AI-Generated Art from the V4 countries will be organized, an AI-powered Text-to-Image and Text-to-Video Tool will be developed and a website will be set up presenting an innovative, student-curated online exhibition featuring AI-generated art inspired by the diverse cultural heritage of the V4 countries.
The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design has won 39 570 EUR non-refundable funding from the International Visegrad Fund with their application entitled “The impact of AI on Low-resource (limited digital resources) languages and their visual cultures”. The project will be implemented between 1 June 2025 and 30 November 2026 with the cooperation of 5 consortium partners from the V4 countries.
