Playful and practical all at once – Introducing the 2025 MOME diploma visual identity!

Date: 2025.05.27
The MOME 2025 graduation visual identity is now complete, offering a visual representation of community-driven future building. At MOME, it’s tradition for the visual identity of the diploma events – from graphic design to the portrait photography of BA and MA graduates – to be designed by students themselves, with the concept chosen through a competition judged by a panel of university staff. The annually revamped visual identity serves as a visual snapshot of its time.

The 2025 visual identity was created by first-year Graphic Design MA students Daniel Beliczky and Bence Sáránszky, based on the idea of building a shared vision for the future. Their design focuses on cooperation, modularity, and adaptability – principles that play a key role not only in the structure of the visual system, but its physical and digital applicability as well. Inspired by construction and using basic geometric forms, the identity can be translated effortlessly into spatial design. Through textures resembling glass, light refractions, and motion, it creates a striking visual language that lends itself beautifully to installations and photo shoots alike.

The colour palette comes in two variations: the BA programmes are accompanied by shades of green, while MA programmes are marked by tones of blue. A second version pairs green with black for a more dramatic contrast. English-language graphic elements have also been added, reflecting MOME’s growing international presence and reinforcing the future-forward mindset that underpins the entire system – not just in style but in substance.

The concept for the portrait photography was developed by a team of four Photography students: Teodóra Gál, Eszter Sárkány, Zsombor Szilágyi, and Lili Janka Szűcs. Their aim was to create a unified visual language for the BA and MA portraits, while still highlighting the distinct character of each programme type. For BA portraits, they used rainbow and softening filters and tuned the lighting to enhance hair shine and subtle tones. For MA photos, by contrast, they employed star filters and directed airflow to create a sense of movement – making hair flow and light sparkle in a dynamic and playful way. The dominant blue-green palette and gleaming effects echo the visual language of the overall diploma visual identity.

An alternative solution was created for those unable to attend their portrait session in person: a mannequin was lit using the original settings to maintain consistency across all visuals.

As a visual system, the 2025 diploma identity is more than just a graphic framework – it’s a layered, open-ended design that strikes a delicate balance between individual expression and institutional coherence.
