Dóra graduated in graphic design from the Hungarian University of Art and Design (now MOME), then obtained her DLA at MOME in 2009. She has been a teacher at MOME since 2010, she was the head of the Graphic Design Department between 2012 and 2015. She has been a habilitated assistant professor at the department since 2013, and she is the founder of the Visual Grammar adult education programme.
Biography
Her primary fields of research include the history, theory and design methodology of contemporary graphic design, the experimental aspects of design and the intersection between graphic design and media. Her objectives are to build a knowledge base of contemporary professional theory, develop modern educational resources in Hungarian and release publications and books in these fields. She takes part in Hungarian and international exhibitions and professional publications (Etapes, Slanted, IdN, Brand Magazine), and organises events, publications and exhibitions in Hungary. As an autonomous artist, she specializes in art books. She has written, designed and self-published numerous volumes on art, as well as books on graphic design theory and typography projects (MO_ST Typohoto, HV_100, NULL Style, Ballatone, Budapest Cretio, Visual Grammar, Graphic History 1850-1950, Graphic History 1850-2000). As a graphic designer, she mainly works for clients in the cultural sector on book and publication design. She received the Hungarian Product Design Award in 2017. In 2018, she organized 1st Art Book Fair Budapest. Since 2018, she has been a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), an international organisation bringing together the world’s leading graphic designers. In 2022, she received the Noémi Ferenczy Award.
