Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design

The lawn in front of the Gond-űző villa

Project overview
The classical building of the Gond-űző villa is one of MOME’s most iconic venues.

Its elegant spaces host exhibitions, receptions, and events, while the terrace features Emese Benczúr’s installation, Let It Shine. In spring, the blooming magnolia tree in front of the villa offers a stunning sight. The front lawn has become a popular meeting spot for both the university community and dog walkers, and is also the location for the traditional end-of-year alumni picnic.

The “thinking statue” sits under the large laurel tree, a popular spot during exam periods, where many visit in hopes of good luck, while the Frigyes Pogány statue stands on the opposite side of the building, on the terrace named in his honour. The university’s apiary, which has been home to four colonies since 2025, is located in a quiet corner at the back.
