How to preserve memories through space and time?
Project overview
A photography project of family reunification: a series of repetitive visual and tangible experiments spanning generations and cultures

The photo project titled This is the Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Found is a repetitive visual and tangible experiment comprised of five different books. It aims to retain, preserve, and capture memory through a series of constructed personal archives. These books tell the seemingly familiar story of a family separated by social, political, and historical events, resulting in geographical distances.

More importantly, they present the family’s eventual reunion and rediscovery of one another in the present, as they rebuild connections across generations and cultures, redefining their relationships along the way. Using collage techniques and the sequential layering of photographs, the project constructs a new and somewhat artificial reality where the geographical, linguistic, and cultural differences that have long impeded the reunification of families separated against their will are erased.
