Balázs Szendőfi: Hegyizene (Mountain Music) - screening and panel discussion

Balázs Szendőfi’s new nature documentary, Hegyizene (Mountain Music), will be screened at MOME. The film explores the natural beauty of the Western Carpathians, a region close to Hungary located along Romania’s western border. Part of a 145-million-year-old mountain range, this area remains a “white spot” both in terms of scientific research and public awareness. It is home to the source regions of rivers such as the Berettyó, Körös rivers, Meleg-Szamos, and Aranyos. The music in the film is much more than just an accompaniment, playing an essential role in conveying the film’s core message. The atmospheric handpan and bass guitar duets by Ákos Fekecs and Balázs Szendőfi perfectly complement the visuals, capturing the flowing rhythms of water and timeless spirit of the Western Carpathians. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

A year ago, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design launched its own apiary with ecological and educational goals. The aim was to ensure that the university community could contribute to environmental sustainability not just in theory, but also in practice. Through bee-focused activities and educational programs, the initiative also seeks to shape students’ perspectives on nature and sustainability.
