Constructive Criticism – A presentation by and a consultation with Rita Parniczky

London-based multidisciplinary artist Rita Parniczky will hold a public presentation to MOME students on Thursday, 21 September, followed by a consultation.
Rita graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009, where she developed a unique weaving technique exploring the internal yarn structure, the vertical warp. Her art focuses on structures: using sculpture, photography, video, installation and drawing to reveal the less visible structural properties of everyday objects and traditional techniques.
She also makes frequent use of the method of constructive criticism in her work, including in the consultation following the presentation. Students can bring in any work in any format, whether physical or conceptual, old or new, that they have questions about or feel stuck on.

„Global society has not yet understood the distinction between physical expansion and qualitative development. It has passed the stage where more physical expansion is desirable. No widely-shared global goal is now served by having more people or material goods. Now it is important to learn how to advance the development of our species - achieving equity, peace, psychological balance, physical health, environmental quality.” (Dennis Meadows, co-author of Limits to Growth)
