PHOTO-OPART - Vasarely Experience - Photography Experiments 2.0

A roundtable discussion in connection with the PHOTO-OPART Vasarely Experience exhibition at the Vasarely Musuem in Pécs was organised by the Janus Pannonius University and MOME with teaching artist and curator Imre Drégely, teacher Gábor Máté, curator Kata Kárpáti (JPM) and MOME students.

The project exhibition featured works made during the course and workshop developed through a collaboration between MOME Photography and the Vasarely Museum. 
 
The photographs, video animations and spatial installations conveying the ambitions and visual messages of op art and kineticism still relevant today were created at the op art course held by Photography teaching artist Imre Drégely.

Working at the intersection of fiction and documentary, and stage and background, German film and video artist Julian Rosefeldt combines cinematography, architecture, theatre and literature in his installations. Particularly interested in the relationship between stage and background, the visible and the hidden, the original and the imitation, his films not only evoke social narratives but also reflect on the moving image itself being an archive, a factory of myths and an experimental space.
