MOME Senate: added powers, greater autonomy

For the fifth consecutive year, the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, serving as the institution’s maintainer, has been actively engaged in driving MOME’s revitalisation. Since 2020, the university’s budget has increased nearly fourfold, and the Foundation implemented the most significant faculty salary increase in the history of Hungarian higher education, while student scholarships and grants have more than doubled and grant income has increased almost twentyfold. Moreover, the university’s pioneering initiatives in sustainability and in supporting talents from disadvantaged backgrounds have become firmly established.

From the outset, the Foundation has pursued the development of the university in an open dialogue with the MOME community. In doing so, it has carefully considered the students’ calls for strengthening the Senate’s powers. The Board of Trustees, in full consensus, agrees that rethinking rights and responsibilities throughout this comprehensive transformation process is both justified and prudent.

In light of the above, the Foundation’s governing body has unanimously resolved to enhance the Senate’s powers and expand its scope for autonomous action. Under these new decisions:

The Organisational and Operational Procedure (OOP) may, from now on, only be amended by consensus between the maintainer and the Senate.

In the future, the university Senate will have sole and exclusive power to decide on all matters relating to the set of employment requirements, including its detailed regulations (the SER and its appendices, with the exception of the Code of Ethics but including the Code of Research Ethics).

Should the maintainer disagree with the appointment of a candidate nominated by the Senate for the position of the Rector, a new call for applications must be issued.

The Foundation wishes the Senate productive work as it assumes its expanded responsibilities.

MOME Announces Open Call for Rector Position

The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) has announced an open call for applications for the position of Rector. The call has been issued by the maintainer of the university, the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.

A Római Magyar Akadémia és a MOME közös rezidenciaprogramja ismét elérhető

Újra lehet jelentkezni a MOME és a Collegium Hungaricum Róma hallgatói rezidenciaprogramjára. A 2024-ben létrehozott program célja, hogy a MOME hallgatóinak szakmai pályakezdését és nemzetközi érvényesülését támogassa, ennek keretében évente hat hallgató kap lehetőséget egy négyhetes júliusi tartózkodásra a Római Magyar Akadémián. A programban szakmai felkészítő kurzus, terepmunka, valamint egy tavaszi csoportos kiállítás is szerepel. Mind alap-, mind mesterszakos végzős hallgatók jelentkezhetnek, sőt az angol nyelvű képzésekben részt vevő hallgatók is benyújthatják angol nyelvű pályázatukat.

Átadták az Árkay-díjakat a MOME hallgatóinak

A Hegyvidéki Önkormányzat 2025-ben hallgatói ötletpályázatot írt ki a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem hallgatói számára a Szoboszlai utca – Böszörményi út – Beethoven utca által határolt, parlagon heverő városi tömb és környezetének revitalizációjára. A pályázat célja a terület urbanisztikai újragondolása volt, amelyre a MOME Építészeti Intézet MA1 évfolyamának hallgatói adtak komplex tervezési válaszokat féléves tervezési feladat keretében. A legjobb koncepciókat az Árkay-díjjal jutalmazták, az első díjat a Hegedűs Eszter és Számuel Boglárka, a megosztott második díjat a Huszár Bence és Tribel Renáta, valamint a Reppert Hanga Izabella és Szakál Emese alkotta párosok nyerték, dicséretben részesült Juhász László és Náray Áron terve. A pályaművekből rendezett kiállítás február 25- ig látogatható a Barabás Villában.
