Nine ‘Tomorrow Belongs to You’ scholars take the next step – from secondary school to university

Date: 2025.08.12
Six participants in the ‘Tomorrow Belongs to You – For the creative talents of the future’ 2025 scholarship programme are about to begin their BA studies at MOME, while three others have been admitted to the University of Szeged, Óbuda University, and the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. The numbers speak for themselves: the second cohort of the scholarship, launched in 2023, has truly helped its students take their first steps towards a creative career, transforming them from high schoolers into university students.

From September, those continuing at MOME will join the Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design, Designer Maker, and Design Culture BA programmes. For those who haven’t yet secured a place in higher education, the programme team will continue to offer guidance and stay connected.

Created in partnership between the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and the University, the programme gave eighteen talented secondary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance in 2025 to explore the worlds of design, visual communication, architecture, and art – and shape their own futures. Over twelve weekends, they worked together on the MOME campus, preparing both professionally and mentally for pursuing creative university studies.

The sessions were built around the Spark talent development programme, one of MOME’s flagship initiatives for raising the next generation of young talents. With the support of university lecturers, industry mentors, and MOME students, participants discovered their creativity and strengths, mastered the foundations of design thinking, and explored how to build a project or investigate a subject through research and questioning.

Recruitment for the programme began months in advance – from autumn 2024, the MOME team visited nearly twenty schools across the country. More than a thousand secondary school students in Debrecen, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Székesfehérvár, Kecskemét, Szolnok, and other regional towns were introduced to the scholarship. The aim was to turn the programme from a distant possibility into a goal within reach for young people diverse backgrounds, including those facing significant social or economic disadvantage.

From nearly ninety applicants, eighteen were chosen for the 2025 programme following in-person interviews around the country. The programme was designed to provide scholarships to and support nearly twenty students each year in gaining admission to higher education in the creative industries. The next application round opens on 5 September, with full details to follow on the website soon.
