The CEE Animation Forum in Pilsen is a major animation industry pitch forum of the region, with animation professionals presenting their ideas and getting networking opportunities. Each year, MOME animation students attend the event. This year Dániel Diószeghy and Zoé Nagy presented their diploma projects, and a separate presentation and exhibition were put on by the Animation programme.
The Intermezzo Festival will take place for the second time this year, launched by MOME and the House of Music, to the delight of all music, light painting, and animation lovers. The purpose of the event series created by the students, in addition to providing an opportunity for emerging musicians to make their debut, is to connect music with a design-oriented audience. The House of Music, Hungary offers an ideal backdrop for the electronic musical and inspiring visual accompaniment.
In June, two Hungarian film festivals will feature several former and graduating MOME students: Fresh Meat Budapest International Short Film Festival, followed by the Kecskemét Animation Film Festival.
A gigantic fresco of a family of long-eared owls complete with lights was created in Veszprém, thanks to the collaboration between the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme and the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
The Animation programme of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design is hosting three internationally acclaimed film professionals in the spring semester as part of its master course series. Each event features screenings and discussions, and focuses on the life journey of a prominent figure of Hungarian animation.
The animation short From the Corner of My Eye received a Special Mention from the Berlinale’s Youth Jury. Created by Domonkos Erhardt at the Animation department of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), the film debuted in the Generation 14+ section of one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals.
Innovations from Baden-Württemberg that is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year will be presented in an animation film by the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Stuttgart in collaboration with Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). The film was created at the initiative of the Institute by the Piros Animation team of MOME alumni, with sponsorship from the Ministry for Innovation and Technology.
The anniversary event of the animation training of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design featured talks by major international artists open to the professional community and the public. Students were given an opportunity to get a glimpse into the animation film making practice of other European artists and present their own works as part of a portfolio review.
Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) further expands its international education portfolio following the successful launch of its first two English MA programmes. Students looking to continue their education in the creative industries will now have the opportunity to study Animation and Design in English language from September 2023, in addition to Photography and Interaction Design, building a valuable network and gaining future-shaping, competitive knowledge while still at university.

The world’s top animation film event, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival took place between 13 and 18 June, where Balázs Turai took home the best animated short film award for his short Amok, also earning him an Academy Awards nomination.
