In Hungary, tons of wool go to waste in the process of sheep shearing each year.
The aim of my thesis is to present an alternative solution that would utilise this valuable raw material, therefore I experimented with developing a composite material, created by mixing wool left over from shearing with a gelatine-based hydrogel. The wool was shaped into a tough material unlike regular wool, and its properties are demonstrated through a container collection.
The shape of the containers is determined by the structures designed by me and the different material properties. As an important design consideration, every part of the items was created using the same material, which takes 3 to 4 months to decompose when composted.
