Content development is at the heart of the programme, which teaches students the different roles and processes of animation production as well as and the use of immersive and emerging technologies (AR, VR, MR). The main pillars of the Animation MA programme are developing independent perspectives, finding an individual artistic voice and creative method, and mastering a responsible design approach.
News
Elite sport, ambition, tension, and extreme mental and physical strain – these are the central themes explored in The Last Drop, a gripping animated short by Anna Tőkés. The film has been shortlisted for the graduation film category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of the most prestigious showcases for animation worldwide. This year, the festival is paying tribute to Hungarian animation, shining the light on the country’s vibrant film industry, artists, studios, and schools.
In a remarkable achievement, Wish You Were Ear, an animated diploma film from MOME’s Animation department, has won the prestigious Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at this year’s Berlinale. Sponsored by the National Film Institute (NFI), the film was lauded by the Berlinale Generation 14+ jury for its poignant reminder of how communication, mutual respect, and understanding are essential to human existence, no matter how varied our individual experiences may be. The award was presented on Friday evening at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival to Balogh, a MOME graduate from the class of 2024.
Another triumph: MOME diploma film competes at the Berlinale!
Mirjána Balogh’s animation Wish You Were Ear will represent Hungary at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, which begins on 13 February. Created in 2024 as a diploma film at the Animation programme of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), with support from the National Film Institute (NFI), the film will make its international debut in the Generation 14+ programme. Selected from thousands of entries, this thought-provoking animation explores how romantic relationships leave lasting impressions on our sense of self.
