The Next Station is... - Kiállítás a Stefan Lengyel Kiválósági Ösztöndíjasok munkáiból

The central metaphor of this year’s exhibition is the metro network, connecting different places, people and systems while drawing attention to the everyday connections between urban life and design. The projects explore the social role of design and the possibilities of design thinking, highlighting how design can create connections between problems and solutions, people and their environments, and different systems.
Across Merlin’s four exhibition spaces, visitors can encounter some of the key social, environmental and technological challenges of our time. The projects address topics ranging from urban infrastructure and industrial heritage to the ecological crisis, education and child protection, as well as the possibilities and dilemmas of artificial intelligence. The works take visitors from Nigeria to Transcarpathia and from the cellar systems of Budafok to the former Tungsram factory on Váci Road, while also exploring speculative visions of the future and the possible consequences of technological development.
The exhibition also presents human-centred solutions and new perspectives, including a playful tool designed to support the everyday lives of people living with dementia, a customisable community e-bike concept, and a photography initiative that invites visually impaired people to experience photography. What unites the diverse projects is their use of design thinking to explore current challenges and identify new possibilities.
*The Next Station is...* does not offer ready-made answers, but invites visitors to think together, recognise connections between different issues and explore new possibilities for the social role of design. The exhibition creates a meeting point between the university and the city, students and visitors, and research and everyday experience.
